Party Countdown

7-02-Salsa.jpgThe Un-Wedding preparations are going well! Cleared out the barn, dug a trench and put in plumbing, gas and electrical, filled the trench with several truckloads of sand, covered the area around the barn with several truckloads of gravel, tamped it flat, and painted the barn's interior. Lots of stuff still to do this weekend to get this place in shape but most of the party organizing is done. Fifty of our family and friends start arriving as of Thursday, most Friday night and Saturday morning. The long-range weather forecast is now saying cooler at 26 degrees, with some cloud and possibly showers! And here we were worried it would be 40 degrees and burn us all to a crisp. With luck it will be 26 and blue skies. It's a gorgeous day today and time to get outside. Can't believe there's only a week to go. We can't wait to see everyone!

7-15-BarnPrep.JPGDoes it look like a dining hall yet?

An UPDATE: Bev a.k.a. Mommsie arrived this morning and we went straight to the garden centre to get flowers for the party. The rental equipment and dishes arrived a day early because they're so busy with other events, which was great because we were able to figure out our room layout and table settings this afternoon. The barn is going to look fantastic! It's 36 degrees in the shade (and not a lot of shade to be found), but the forecast claims the temperature is going to drop by 10 degrees for the weekend. Whew! I'm about to go out and mow the lawn before dinner, the shadier front lawn anyway. So hot!! Still a lot to accomplish but with Bev helping me out and Richard on schedule in the kitchen (veggies all prepped and the roasts done so far), and Maria and Chad arriving tonight, we're doing just fine. And my terrible head cold has blown through in a week leaving me a bit raw but now able to breathe and think, in the nick of time. It's going to be one hell of a party. If you declined the invitation, you're missing out!! I'm sure I'll have a post all about it next weekend after we've recovered. If you're on your way up tomorrow, we'll see you soon! Cheers!

Wow, what a transformation on the yard! The barn looks great with that white coat of paint. I wish we were coming up to see your place and join the fun.

I have a card for you guys, but can't find your snail mail address. Can you please send it to me.

I am looking forward to seeing party pictures, so take lots!

Love Sarah

PS make sure you relax and enjoy, you super organizer you! If you ever tire at your job you could become an event planner!

Ah, Anita: I am so sorry I had to miss out on this event. Many regrets. The barn looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures.

We missed you, Sarah & Julian and WC! And everyone else who couldn't make the trip.

Party pictures are coming soon. Thanks to Bob for sending me 44 awesome shots of both the party and the trip to the Wildlife Park. Bob was up at dawn with baby Eric who had the flu, so he got some early morning photos I can't wait to share.

The rest of you guests with cameras, come on, send me a few photos! I am trying to get my association's newsletter out the door and then I will update the blog with pictures etc. We had such a fabulous time!
